At least eight people, including women and children, were killed and two others injured when a car collided with a dumper on the National Highway near Jamshoro.

According to police, the deceased include two men, four women and two children.

The victims were travelling from Hyderabad to Thatta when the accident occurred on the Thatta Road section of the highway.

Local residents cut open the damaged car to retrieve the bodies and the injured, who were later shifted to a nearby hospital.

Police said the accident occurred due to overspeeding while overtaking.

The collision completely destroyed the car. Authorities confirmed that the bodies and the injured were moved to the hospital for medico-legal procedures and treatment.
