A couple welcomed five babies at the same time at Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Swabi, in a rare medical case that has drawn attention from health authorities.

Hospital officials said the newborns include one boy and four girls. The parents belong to the Zaida area of Swabi, according to hospital sources.

The NICU in charge said all five babies are currently being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as they were born prematurely. Doctors said the infants are being provided with the best possible medical care.

Officials added that the delivery was conducted under the Sehat Card programme, and all medical treatment for the mother and newborns is also being provided free of cost under the same scheme.

Hospital and medical directors have issued special instructions to staff to ensure continuous monitoring and extra care for both the mother and the babies.

Doctors said the health condition of the mother and the newborns is being closely observed.
