JCP recommends confirmation of six Peshawar High Court judges

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Wednesday approved the confirmation of six additional judges of the Peshawar High Court as permanent and granted six-month extensions to four others, sources said.

The JCP meeting was presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi.

According to the sources, the meeting took key decisions on key matters, including additional judges of the Peshawar High Court.

The commission recommended the confirmation of Justice Tariq Afridi and Justice Abdul Fayaz as permanent judges.

It also approved making Justice Salahuddin, Justice Sadiq and Justice Mudassar permanent judges of the high court.

In addition, the JCP recommended the appointment of Justice Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah as a permanent judge of the Peshawar High Court.

The meeting also approved a six-month extension in the tenure of four additional judges.

According to the sources, extensions were recommended for Additional Justice Farah Jamshed and Justice Inamullah, while Additional Justice Sibghatullah and Justice Aurangzeb were also granted extensions.

The sources said the recommendations of the Judicial Commission would be forwarded to the President for approval, after which a formal notification would be issued.
