PCB to hold auction for Multan Sultans after successful PSL expansion

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to arrange an auction for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, sources said on Sunday.

The PCB had earlier announced that it would manage the Multan Sultans itself for PSL 11.

However, under new developments, the board has now decided to put the franchise up for sale.

The decision follows the successful auction of two new PSL teams, which exceeded the PCB’s expectations.

Encouraged by the strong prices fetched by the new franchises, the board believes this is an opportune time to auction Multan Sultans as well.

The sources said the franchise will be offered through an open bidding process, with an advertisement to be issued soon.

A formal announcement in this respect will be made after reviewing the legal aspects.

Following the record sale of two franchises and growing interest from foreign investors, several potential buyers have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Multan Sultans.

The PCB is optimistic that the franchise will attract a strong price at auction.
