Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Friday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving governance, enforcing accountability, and putting state-owned enterprises (SOEs) on a path to financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
He made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on SOEs.
The committee reviewed the Annual Consolidated Performance Report of commercial and non-commercial SOEs for fiscal year 2024-25.
The report detailed financial and non-financial performance, government support and fiscal flows, contributions to the national exchequer, debt profiles, corporate governance compliance, and business plan assessments.
Officials also briefed the committee on reform measures under the SOEs Act, 2023, and proposed steps to improve oversight and performance.
Earlier, the committee approved the appointment of independent directors to several power sector companies, including Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), Jamshoro Power Generation Company Limited (JPCL), Energy Infrastructure Development and Management Company (EIDMC), Independent System and Market Operator (ISMO), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), and Tribal Areas Electric Supply Company (TESCO).
