A complaint has been filed against Islamabad High Court Judge Justice Muhammad Asif in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), seeking an inquiry and his removal from office over allegations of misconduct linked to a fatal road accident involving his son.
The complaint was submitted by Colonel (retired) Inamur Rahim, Advocate, who alleged that two women were killed in a traffic accident involving a vehicle driven by Justice Asif’s 16-year-old son, identified as Abuzar.
The petitioner claimed the vehicle was non-custom-paid at the time of the incident.
According to the complaint, Justice Asif allegedly used his influence and state machinery to exert pressure on the heirs of the deceased women.
It further alleged that statements of the victims’ families were recorded in a “covert manner,” following which bail was granted to the accused.
The petitioner argued that a judge is expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, ethics and character, and alleged that Justice Asif violated the judicial code of conduct by relying on administrative pressure instead of showing personal empathy towards the affected families.
On these grounds, the complaint urged the Supreme Judicial Council to initiate an inquiry against Justice Muhammad Asif and, if the allegations are established, remove him from office.
There was no immediate response from Justice Asif or the Islamabad High Court regarding the allegations at the time of filing this report.
