K-Electric, PSRM set to build dedicated 132kV grid station at Gharo

K-Electric (KE) and PSRM (Pvt) Limited have signed an agreement to construct a dedicated 132kV grid station and transmission line in Gharo.

The project will deliver a reliable 15MW power supply to support the growing operations of the local steel industry.

The new grid station aims to enhance power resilience, improve operational efficiency, and support future electrification for the steel sector. The initiative reflects both companies’ commitment to sustainability, innovation, and reliable energy delivery.

Sadia Dada, KE’s Chief Distribution & Marcomms Officer, said, “Every industry has unique operational needs, and a forward approach is when customers invest in their own grid infrastructure – built to their specific standards and future requirements. It allows us to deliver power that’s efficient, stable, and truly fit for purpose. We wholeheartedly commend PSRM for investing in their growth and are humbled to partner with them on this journey of progress.”

Muhammad Mustafa, CEO of PSRM, said, “Steel is one of Pakistan’s most vital industries and reliable energy is the backbone of its continued growth. This partnership with KE to install a dedicated grid station enables us to strengthen our energy resilience and develop a flourishing local steel industry.”

The dedicated infrastructure will guarantee an uninterrupted power supply, enabling PSRM to maintain continuous steel production and meet rising market demand. By supporting critical sectors such as steel, construction, and manufacturing, K-Electric reinforces Pakistan’s industrial backbone and ensures dependable, high-quality electricity remains central to national productivity and growth.
