AJK Assembly to decide fate of PM Anwar-ul-Haq today

The voting on the no-confidence motion against Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq will be held today (Monday).

The legislative assembly session will be held at 3pm for the purpose. Assembly Speaker Choudhry Latif Akbar will chair the session.

Prime Minister Choudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has decided to face the vote of no-confidence instead of resigning, sources said.

Members from the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muslim Conference, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party, and dissident members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are expected to participate in the voting.

The PPP has nominated Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore as its candidate for the Prime Minister’s post.

Party leadership claims that the no-confidence motion against Anwar-ul-Haq will pass with a clear majority and Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore will be elected the new Prime Minister tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, the PTI has decided to file disqualification references against the dissident members who vote in favour of the motion.
