Army chief warns against bid to impose war, recalls response given in May

Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that those who attempt to impose war will be given the same response as the one given in May.

He made the remarks at a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in honour of Jordan’s King Abdullah II, where the army chief received a warm reception

The army chief said that “Allah granted Pakistan honour and success” in its war against India.

Field Marshal Asim Munir said that when a Muslim places full trust in Allah, “Allah can turn even the dust he throws at the enemy into a missile.”

The army chief said the Pakistan Army is “the army of Allah,” and that “our soldiers fight in the name of Allah.”

During the ceremony, King Abdullah II of Jordan was conferred the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civil award.

President Asif Ali Zardari said on the occasion that “we are all one family.”

A large number of federal ministers, governors and foreign diplomats attended the ceremony. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto also participated.

Following the formal proceedings, a luncheon was hosted in honour of King Abdullah II at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
