Sikh pilgrims return to India after completing Guru Nanak birthday celebrations

The 10-day visit of over 2,000 Sikh pilgrims from India concluded on Thursday as they returned home after attending the 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Pakistan.

At Wagah Border, Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq and Sikh Parbandhak Committee President Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora saw off the departing pilgrims, who expressed deep appreciation for the arrangements made by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and the government of Pakistan.

The visiting pilgrims said they were overwhelmed by the warmth, love, and peace they experienced in Pakistan, describing it as “a home away from home.”

They lauded the preservation of Sikh gurdwaras and praised Pakistan’s commitment to protecting religious sites with respect and care.

One of the pilgrims, Gurinder Kaur, called the ten-day pilgrimage “golden days filled with spiritual peace,” while others said Pakistan’s hospitality reflected “the true message of humanity.”

Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Mushtaq said Sikh pilgrims were able to perform their religious rituals freely and securely, adding that the Kartarpur Corridor stands as a beacon of interfaith harmony and tolerance.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan continues to promote religious tourism and has never denied a visa to any Sikh pilgrim.

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said Sikhs across the world hold deep affection for Pakistan, urging both countries to keep the Kartarpur Corridor open year-round to strengthen people-to-people ties and the message of peace.
