Security forces foil terror attack on Cadet College Wana

Security forces on Monday foiled an attempt by India-backed militants of Fitna Al Hindustan to carry out a terror attack similar to the 2014 Army Public School (APS) tragedy in Peshawar, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the main gate of Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan, attempting to breach the outer security perimeter.

Security personnel responded swiftly and effectively, killing two militants during the exchange of fire.

Three other attackers managed to enter the premises but were cornered inside the college’s administrative block, where a clearance operation was underway.

The ISPR said the blast caused significant damage to the main gate and nearby infrastructure, but the attackers’ plans were thwarted before they could inflict mass casualties.

“The Indian-sponsored Khawarij once again tried to repeat the barbaric act of terrorism seen in the 2014 APS Peshawar attack,” the statement said.

“Their aim was to spread fear among the younger generation, particularly students in the tribal areas striving for a better future through education.”

The ISPR added that the militants were in contact with their handlers across the border in Afghanistan and were receiving instructions from them.

“These brutal acts are being orchestrated from terrorist structures based in Afghanistan, contrary to the Taliban government’s claims that such groups do not exist on their soil.”

The military reiterated that Pakistan reserves the right to respond to terrorist elements and their leadership operating from Afghanistan, adding that clearance operations were continuing in South Waziristan to eliminate remaining India-backed militants.

“The security forces and law enforcement agencies, under the vision of Azm-e-Istahkam, will continue operations until terrorism is completely eradicated,” the ISPR stated.

“The people of Pakistan stand united with their forces in defeating the terrorists’ nefarious designs.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the terrorist attack and praised the security forces for their timely and effective response.

“The cowardly enemy once again tried to target an educational institution, but their evil designs were foiled,” the prime minister said.

“The entire nation salutes our forces, who are standing like an iron wall against terrorism. We are determined to eliminate this menace from our country once and for all.”

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also denounced the attack and commended the professional skill and bravery of the security personnel who thwarted the assault.
