Pakistan win Hong Kong Super Sixes 2025 title for sixth time

Pakistan lifted the Hong Kong Super Sixes title for the sixth time on Sunday after a dominant performance against Kuwait, capping off a thrilling campaign with a commanding victory in the final.

Batting first, Pakistan piled up a massive 135 for 3 in the allotted six overs. Skipper Abbas Afridi led from the front with a blistering 52 off just 11 balls, smashing seven towering sixes before retiring hurt.

Abdul Samad added 42 off 13 balls, while Khawaja Nafay contributed a quickfire 22 from six deliveries as Pakistan’s top order tore into the Kuwaiti bowling attack.

Despite Meet Bhavsar’s impressive three-wicket haul, Kuwait bowlers struggled to contain Pakistan’s explosive batting, which maintained a remarkable run rate of 22.5 an over.

In reply, Kuwait put up a spirited fight but could only manage 92 runs in five overs. Bhavsar remained unbeaten on 33, while Adnan Idrees hit a brisk 30.

Maaz Sadaqat was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, claiming 3 wickets for 29 runs, while Abbas Afridi and Muhammad Shahzad took one wicket apiece.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan edged past Australia by one run in a nail-biting semi-final. Khawaja Nafay’s blazing 50 off just 14 balls powered Pakistan to 121 for 2, before tight bowling in the final overs secured the win and a place in the final.

With their all-round dominance, Pakistan showcased their trademark flair in the shortest format, clinching the Hong Kong Super Sixes crown in style.
