Chief of the General Staff of the United Kingdom Army, General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, called on Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to ISPR, the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, and measures to enhance defence cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Both military leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together for regional peace and stability.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Munir and General Walker agreed that defence relations between Pakistan and the UK are built on mutual trust, professional collaboration, and training cooperation, which need to be further strengthened to achieve lasting peace in the region.
The visiting UK army chief lauded the Pakistan Army’s achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
He praised the professional competence displayed by Pakistan’s armed forces under challenging circumstances.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, General Walker was presented with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.
He also laid a floral wreath at the “Yadgar-e-Shuhada” (Martyrs’ Monument) and paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.
The ISPR said the high-level visit will further strengthen defence ties between the two countries and contribute to achieving shared objectives of peace and security in the region.
