Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Tuesday that his party will respond to the proposed 27th constitutional amendment only after its draft is released, emphasiSing that speculation serves no purpose.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House, Maulana Fazl said the draft had not yet been made public.
“When the draft appears, we will see what points it contains,” he said, adding that there was no point in conjecture.
He also clarified that Senator Faisal Vawda did not bring any message to him and that their meeting was a routine courtesy call.
Senator Vawda, who met Maulana Fazl at his residence earlier, described the JUI leader as a senior political figure and said he attended the meeting in the open.
Vawda told reporters there was no dispute over vote numbers and that Fazl raised no objections during the conversation.
Vawda highlighted a transfer-and-posting clause as an important element of the proposed amendment.
He also invoked Article 243-A, saying modern conflict now includes “mental and technical” dimensions, a point he presented as a rationale for new security measures.
Separately, Vawda acknowledged an 18-year link with the proscribed TLP but said the group was banned for a clear reason and warned that anyone who crosses a red line must face strict action.
