Jennifer Lawrence talks comfort with nude scenes and body confidence

Jennifer Lawrence says she has become more comfortable filming nude scenes, sharing that she no longer feels anxious about being on camera in revealing moments.

Speaking at a screening of her new film Die My Love, the Oscar-winning actor said she wanted director Lynne Ramsay to work without restrictions.

“I don’t care about nudity. I wanted Lynne to have total freedom artistically,” Lawrence said in remarks captured by Vulture and shared on TikTok.

The Hunger Games star, who welcomed her second child earlier this year, explained that shooting while pregnant changed her perspective on body image.

Unlike her preparation for the 2023 comedy No Hard Feelings, where she dieted and trained for physical scenes, Lawrence said her priority this time was staying healthy and getting through long workdays.

“I was pregnant. What was I going to do, not eat?” she shared, adding that the experience felt “freeing.” She also recalled turning down offers to digitally touch up her appearance during filming. “That’s a normal body,” she noted.

Lawrence reflected on how her approach has evolved since Red Sparrow (2018), where she appeared nude on screen for the first time.

While she initially felt nervous, she ultimately viewed it as a creative decision she chose to make, especially after experiencing a major privacy violation in 2014 when her private photos were leaked online.

She said returning to nudity on her own terms gave her a sense of control: “I got something back that was taken from me.”

The actor added that respectful behaviour on set from Red Sparrow director Francis Lawrence helped her feel professional and comfortable during filming.
