Haris Rauf banned for two games; ICC draws flak over leniency to India’s captain

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has handed a two-match suspension to Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf for violating the players’ code of conduct during the Asia Cup 2025.

According to sources, Rauf allegedly breached the ICC Code of Conduct on two occasions during the tournament and was consequently awarded four demerit points.

As a result, the pacer will miss Pakistan’s first two matches of the ongoing ODI series against South Africa.

Meanwhile, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee and handed two demerit points for breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, however, escaped punishment despite making inappropriate gestures during the same match.

It may be recalled that Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav had made politically charged remarks following the match against Pakistan, but the ICC refrained from imposing a suspension — a move that has drawn criticism for perceived bias.
