Speeding dumper claims another life in Karachi’s Landhi area

Another life was lost to a speeding dumper truck in Karachi as a young motorcyclist was killed and his companion injured in Landhi on Tuesday.

According to police, the dumper ran over two men riding a motorcycle near the Landhi area.

Twenty-year-old Kashan died on the spot, while his 19-year-old friend, Rafiq, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital.

The latest incident comes a day after a similar tragedy on Nishter Road, where a newly-married man, Shahzaib, was killed and his wife injured when a dumper rammed into their motorcycle.

The crash sparked public outrage as angry residents set the dumper ablaze before police intervened and detained the driver and three others.

Police said 25-year-old Shahzaib, who lived in the Garden area and worked in the cloth business, had married four months ago. His face was severely damaged in the collision, officials added.

Citizens have repeatedly expressed frustration over reckless driving by heavy vehicles in Karachi, calling for stricter enforcement to prevent further loss of life.
