The district administration in Lahore on Tuesday decided to revise market timings in the city as part of measures to curb smog.
According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office, markets will remain open from Monday to Saturday until 10pm, while on Sundays, they will operate from 2pm to 10pm.
Restaurants and cafés have been directed to close by 11pm on regular days, and by midnight on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
However, they will be allowed to continue home delivery services until 2am.
The notification said that medical stores, tandoors, milk shops, hospitals, laboratories, petrol pumps, and tyre puncture repair shops will remain exempt from these restrictions.
Authorities said that strict action will be taken against violators of the new schedule, which enforces compliance with the September 2023 notification on market timings.
