The Lahore Police have arrested a Dolphin Squad officer for allegedly sharing online content in support of a proscribed religious group and against the operation in Muridke, officials said on Saturday.
According to police sources, the accused officer, identified as Abdul Rehman, was taken into custody by Gujjarpura Police after he shared material on social media expressing support for the banned organisation and opposing police actions against it.
A case has been registered, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him, police confirmed.
Meanwhile, the crackdown on the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) continued across Lahore and surrounding districts.
The sources said that more than 1,700 active workers of the banned group have so far been arrested, many of them through the use of mobile locators and other advanced technology.
The detained TLP members are being nominated in previously registered cases, the officials added.
