The Karachi traffic police issued 4,136 electronic challans across the city on the fifth day of the e-challan system’s implementation, official data showed on Saturday.
The highest number of violations — 2,737 — were for not wearing seatbelts, followed by 812 challans for motorcyclists riding without helmets and 116 for overspeeding.
The traffic police also reported 169 challans for jumping the signal, 157 for using mobile phones while driving, 56 for tinted windows, 24 for illegal parking, 20 each for stop-line violations and carrying passengers on vehicle rooftops, 15 for lane violations, 11 for overloading, and 8 for driving on the wrong side.
However, no challans were issued for non-payment of tax or vehicles with fancy number plates, according to the police data.
