Rawalpindi: Police book landlord for renting out property to Afghan national

First FIR has been registered in Rawalpindi against a local landlord for renting his house to an Afghan national.

According to police, the case was filed at the Morgah Police Station under the Punjab Temporary Residents Act 2015.

The landlord, identified as Chaudhry Adil, had rented out his property to an Afghan citizen without registering the tenancy with the local police station.

The Afghan national, Muhammad Amin, son of Rasool Khan, was arrested on the spot and later shifted to the Refugee Centre in Dhoke Syedan, police said.

Officials said the action was part of the ongoing drive to regulate the presence of foreign nationals residing in the city without proper documentation or compliance with registration procedures.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had ordered to book any individual who rents out property to Afghan nationals or any foreigners residing illegally in the province.
