easypaisa Digital Bank partners with NIFT to enable nationwide digital cheque clearing

easypaisa Digital Bank, Pakistan’s first digital retail bank, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT) to enable digital cheque clearing services across the country.

NIFT, the sole entity responsible for interbank cheque clearing in Pakistan, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency and security of the nation’s financial system. Under the agreement, easypaisa Digital Bank will integrate NIFT’s centralised cheque clearing infrastructure, allowing customers to process cheques digitally in compliance with national banking standards and regulatory frameworks.

The MoU was signed in Islamabad between Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer of easypaisa Digital Bank, and Javed Yousuf Edhi, Chief Executive Officer of NIFT. The partnership marks a significant milestone for easypaisa Digital Bank as it expands its range of banking services, reinforcing its commitment to compliance, operational efficiency, and customer accessibility.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Farhan Hassan said the collaboration represents a major step forward in the bank’s journey toward full-service digital banking.

“By leveraging NIFT’s established infrastructure, we aim to offer our customers reliable and secure digital cheque clearing services through the easypaisa app, aligned with the best practices of Pakistan’s banking industry,” he said.

Javed Yousuf Edhi, CEO of NIFT, said the institution is pleased to onboard easypaisa Digital Bank as a partner.

“As Pakistan’s only cheque clearing facilitator, NIFT remains committed to supporting digital banks and financial institutions in providing efficient and secure financial services nationwide,” he noted.

This collaboration reflects the shared vision of both organisations to strengthen Pakistan’s digital financial ecosystem and promote safe, efficient, and standardised banking operations.
