Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has announced the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the death of a minor boy, Irfan, who allegedly died after being tortured by personnel of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Karachi.
In an interview on Sunday, the minister said that strict action would be taken against all those found involved in the incident.
He added that a complete forensic examination and investigation were still pending, and the department was conducting an internal inquiry.
Expressing regret, Lanjar said it was unfortunate that the boy lost his life while in police custody.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayers for Irfan Baloch were offered in Uch Sharif, Ahmedpur.
The funeral was attended by a large number of political, social, and religious figures, as well as family members and residents of the area.
The bereaved family demanded that a case be registered against the SIU officials allegedly responsible for the death, warning that they would approach the court if their demand was not met.
