Pakistan, Qatar agree to strengthen ties, boost cooperation in trade and investment

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry on Friday in Islamabad, with both leaders agreeing to maintain close contacts to promote mutual understanding.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Qatar relations and lauded Qatar’s role as an important partner and influential regional mediator.

He also appreciated Qatar’s continued efforts to address regional and global challenges, noting that relations between the two countries are rooted in shared faith, values, and mutual respect.

Shehbaz said Pakistan is keen to enhance cooperation with Qatar in energy, agriculture, and food security, while also promoting collaboration in the information technology and tourism sectors.

He emphasised the need to expand trade and investment partnerships and invited Qatari investors to explore new avenues of cooperation under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
