The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has written to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), demanding the handover of the Asia Cup trophy, nearly a month after the tournament’s conclusion.
According to sources, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla sent a letter to ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, requesting the delivery of the trophy, which India had declined to collect after winning the final.
In his response, Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed that the Asia Cup trophy remains in safe custody at the ACC headquarters, as it is the rightful property of the Indian team.
Naqvi proposed a formal presentation ceremony in Dubai on November 10, inviting Indian officials, the team captain, or players to personally receive the trophy.
“The Asia Cup trophy belongs to the Indian team. Let’s hold a small ceremony in Dubai — bring your captain or players and take it,” Naqvi said in his letter.
The ACC is now awaiting an official reply from the BCCI regarding the Dubai event.India had earlier refused to accept the trophy immediately after the final, prompting Naqvi to have it placed under ACC custody.
