Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday appointed fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi as the captain of the national One Day International (ODI) team.

According to PCB officials, Shaheen will lead Pakistan in the upcoming home ODI series against South Africa, scheduled from November 4 to 8 at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium.

The decision to appoint Shaheen as ODI captain was finalized during a high-level meeting of the board’s top management.

Earlier, Mohammad Rizwan was appointed captain of the national ODI team on October 27 last year.
