PCB to decide on Rizwan’s ODI captaincy on Oct 20 as Shaheen emerges top contender

A final decision on whether Mohammad Rizwan will continue as Pakistan’s One-Day International (ODI) captain is expected on October 20, as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has convened a high-level meeting following a recommendation from the head coach Mike Hesson.

According to sources, Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, has written a formal letter to the PCB Chairman, recommending a final decision on the ODI captaincy.

Shaheen Shah Afridi has emerged as the strongest contender for the ODI captaincy, while Babar Azam and Agha Salman are also under consideration, sources said.

The upcoming meeting will bring together the selection and advisory committees, which will also finalise the white-ball squads for the forthcoming South Africa series.
