Internet services in Pakistan to face 18-hour disruption today

Internet users across Pakistan are likely to face slower speeds and intermittent connectivity disruptions as Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) undertakes maintenance work on one of the country’s main submarine cables.

According to a statement issued by the company, the scheduled repair activity will begin at 11.00am Pakistan Standard Time on Tuesday (October 14) to fix a faulty repeater in the undersea cable system.

The maintenance work is expected to last up to 18 hours, during which customers may face degraded internet performance and possible delays in international connectivity.

“A maintenance activity is planned on one of our submarine cables to repair a faulty repeater. The activity will start on October 14, 2025, around 11 a.m. PST and may last up to 18 hours. Customers will face service degradation. We regret the inconvenience,” PTCL said in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The telecom operator added that its technical teams will work around the clock to restore full service as soon as possible.
