Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Thursday said that party founder Imran Khan has directed all PTI lawmakers in Punjab to resign from the provincial assembly’s standing committees, following the same policy already implemented in the National Assembly and Senate.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail after meeting Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said it was the first meeting with the PTI founder in a long time.
“He was in high spirits and good health,” he added.
Barrister Gohar said Imran Khan had instructed that PTI members should withdraw from all 14 standing committees of the Punjab Assembly, where the party has 107 MPAs.
He further quoted Imran Khan as saying: “I will not bow down, nor will I let the nation bow down.”
Responding to recent reports, Barrister Gohar clarified that there was no truth to rumours about any change in the Toshakhana Case No. 2, adding that the case proceedings had been completed.
In August, Imran Khan had directed PTI legislators to resign from parliamentary committees at the national level after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified several party members over their alleged involvement in the May 9, 2023, riots.
The same directive has now been extended to Punjab.
