Salman Agha will captain T20 side against South Africa; Haris Rauf likely to be dropped

Salman Ali Agha will continue to lead the national T20 side for the upcoming series against South Africa, despite poor performance in the recent Asia Cup 2025, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain him.

Wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has also retained his position as the skipper for one-day internationals.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had also offered his support for Shan Masood as Test skipper.

According to the sources, there is a strong possibility that fast bowler Haris Rauf will be dropped from the T20 squad for the series. In his place, either Mohammad Wasim Jr. or Abbas Afridi may be given an opportunity.

Selectors are also considering giving another chance to young players Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris in the T20 format as part of the team’s evolving strategy in white-ball cricket.

Meanwhile, no consensus has been reached yet on the return of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to the T20 side, indicating ongoing deliberations within the selection committee.
