At least 12 passengers sustained minor injuries after a bomb blast on a railway track in the Dasht area of Mastung district, Balochistan, caused the Jaffar Express to derail.
According to government officials, one carriage of the Jaffar Express —travelling from Peshawar to Quetta — was completely destroyed while six other carriages derailed due to the explosion.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening near the Spizend area of Mastung.
SHO of Levies Force Dasht, Akhtar Baloch, stated that unknown individuals had planted explosives on the railway track, which detonated as the Jaffar Express passed over it.
A railway spokesperson confirmed that approximately 270 passengers were on board the train.
It is worth noting that Dasht is located about 30 kilometres southeast of Quetta city and has previously been the site of several bomb and gunfire attacks targeting trains.
