Reference filed in Supreme Judicial Council against IHC judge Justice Ejaz Ishaq

A reference has been filed in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan, accusing him of corruption, bias, and violation of his constitutional oath.

The reference was submitted by lawyer Mohammad Waqas Malik, who alleged that Justice Ejaz Ishaq issued verdicts based on personal grudges and prejudice.

It stated that in the Maryam Fayaz case, the judge kept the verdict reserved for three years, violating his judicial oath.

Similarly, the judgment in the so-called “cut-and-weld vehicles” case was unreasonably delayed, undermining public confidence in the judiciary.

The petition further accused the judge of disrupting the administrative order of the IHC by forming groups with fellow judges, allegedly affecting judicial proceedings.

It claimed that he confronted the chief justice and other colleagues while also running a private law firm as a sitting judge, thereby attempting to influence judicial outcomes.

The reference alleged that Justice Ejaz Ishaq permitted the live broadcast of blasphemy-related cases, provoking unrest, and colluded with lawyer Iman Mazari to use the judiciary for political purposes.

It also claimed that he propagated anti-army and anti-state narratives.

The SJC is expected to review the allegations and determine whether formal proceedings should be initiated against Justice Ejaz Ishaq.
