The Meteorological Department has forecast a new rain spell with thunder and lightning in different areas of the country from today.
The 11th spell of monsoon rains is expected to continue across Punjab until September 19.
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours.
According to the PDMA Director General, there may be an increase in water flow in streams and rivers in Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat because of rain.
The district administration has been placed on high alert as per the directives of the Punjab chief minister.
According to the Met department, most parts of the country were expected to remain dry and hot, but rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, Pothohar region, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan at a few places.
There is also a possibility of heavy rain at isolated locations in northeastern Punjab, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.
The forecast indicates rain in Islamabad and the surrounding areas as well.
Rain is expected in Punjab cities, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Sargodha, Khushab, Sialkot, Narowal, Kasur, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Gujranwala.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected to lash Peshawar, Swat, Kohat, Mardan, Dir, Chitral, Bannu, Bajaur, Abbottabad, Swabi, and Mansehra.
The weather in the Balochistan region will remain partly cloudy, while hot and dry weather is likely to prevail in most districts of Sindh.
However, thunderstorms and strong winds with rain are expected in Azad Kashmir and the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
