Panjnad to receive 700,000 cusecs in 24 hours, Sindh on high alert

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that nearly 700,000 cusecs of water are expected at Panjnad in the next 24 hours.

Speaking to the media at the Rain and Flood Emergency Centre, he said that preparations are in place as the province will safely manage up to 800,000 cusecs.

He said that Karachi is also prepared for the expected rainfall tomorrow.

According to him, 217,000 cusecs from Taunsa will flow into the Indus River, while “water levels at Guddu Barrage will peak on September 9,” said the chief minister.

“More than 128,000 people have been shifted to safer places”, he added.

He continued that these floods could affect more than “324,000 people in Sindh.”

Murad Ali Shah stated that evacuation has been carried out, with villages on the front lines already cleared, and within the next 48 hours, villages in the second phase will also be vacated.

He added that relief supplies have been delivered to warehouses in Sukkur, while relief camps have been geo-tagged, and vaccination facilities for livestock are also available.
