Passengers at Dubai International (DXB) will soon be able to pass through security without removing liquids over 100ml or laptops from their bags, as new checkpoint scanners are rolled out across Terminals 1, 2, and 3, Gulf News reported.

According to the report, DXB CEO Paul Griffiths said trials of the UK-made technology are already showing “quicker and more reliable” results.

The priority is “absolute security,” he noted, followed by speed and efficiency.

The airport, which handled 46 million passengers in the first half of 2025, is upgrading both passenger and hold baggage screening.

While no fixed rollout date has been announced, Griffiths said the system will make the airport experience “easier for customers, better for staff, and enhance Dubai’s global reputation.”

The move follows a wider global trend, with similar technology already in use at airports in Europe.

The UAE is also adopting biometric solutions, including facial recognition clearance at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport.
