Kieron Pollard rolled back the years in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 with a breathtaking display of power-hitting, smashing seven sixes in the space of eight balls to guide Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) to a thrilling win over St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
Batting first after being invited by the Patriots, TKR posted 179 for 6 in 20 overs.
The 38-year-old Pollard lit up the innings with a blazing 65 off just 29 balls, including eight sixes and two fours.
His onslaught turned the tide of the match, leaving bowlers Nevyan Budaisie and Waqar Salamkheil in tatters as he peppered the boundaries.
The highlight came during the 15th and 16th overs when Pollard struck three sixes off four balls, followed by four sixes in the next over.
His explosive 90-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran changed the momentum entirely. Pollard reached his half-century off just 21 balls.
Last week, Pollard became only the second batter after Chris Gayle to cross 14,000 runs in T20 cricket. He is also second on the all-time six-hitting charts with 950 maximums, behind Gayle’s 1,056.
In reply, Patriots could only muster 167 runs in their 20 overs despite Andre Fletcher’s fighting 67 off 54 balls.
TKR sealed a 12-run win, with Pollard deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
