Torrential rains and strong winds have wreaked havoc in Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas, leaving eight people dead and 47 injured in various rain-related incidents, including roof collapses.
Among the deceased, five belonged to Dera Ismail Khan and three to Tehsil Paharpur, according to a report on the damage caused by the rains.
The report said that 41 injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, while 6 were taken to Mufti Mehmood Hospital.
After first aid, 26 of the injured were discharged from the hospitals.
Meanwhile, three children died when the roof of a house collapsed in the Maidan Tikatak area of Lower Dir.
The rescue team removed the bodies of the children from the debris and shifted them to the hospital.
According to rescue officials, the children who died in the accident included 10-year-old Qasim, 11-year-old Murtaza and 9-year-old Sohail.
Strong winds also uprooted trees in various areas of Dera Ismail Khan, while electric wires snapped, causing power outages in several locations.
Heavy rain also lashed various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, and North and South Waziristan.
In Lakki Marwat, different areas experienced stormy rain. Torrential rain continued in the Palandri region, raising fears of landslides in mountainous areas.
In Azad Kashmir, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Bagh and the surrounding areas, causing seasonal streams to overflow.
In Haripur district and the nearby areas of Hazara Division, continued rain has crippled life. In several places, trees have fallen due to the strong winds, blocking roads.
In Skardu, heavy rain is forecast to begin today (Sunday). Authorities have advised the public and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel.
All hotels along the Gilgit River have been closed due to fears of an increase in the flow of the river.
