Heavy rain recorded in different areas of Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has released rainfall data for various areas of Karachi following this morning’s showers.

The highest rainfall recorded so far is 36 millimeters in Saadi Town, while other areas reported include Gulshan-e-Mimar with 33 millimeters, Nazimabad with 26 millimeters, Surjani Town with 12 millimeters, Masroor Base with 11 millimeters, and Korangi with 5 millimeters.

Additionally, University Road saw 4 millimeters of rain, with 3 millimeters recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and DHA, 2 millimeters in Orangi Town, and 1 millimeter each in Faisal Base and North Karachi.

Weather experts anticipate humid conditions and a cloudy sky over the next 24 hours, with humidity levels expected to range between 60 and 85 percent.

Intermittent rainfall continues to affect various areas of Karachi, resulting in water accumulation on several roads and disrupting traffic flow.

Heavy congestion is reported on the road from Civic Center to the Stadium, as well as on the route from Civic Center to the Central Jail.

Traffic is also hindered on the Nazimabad to Lasbela road due to water pooling, with additional reports of standing water in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Banaras, and Naghai Town.Forecast of Heavy Rain

The Meteorological Department has forecasted thunderstorms and rain in the city through the afternoon, with the rainy spell expected to persist until August 22.

Officials noted that a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan, India, is anticipated to influence Karachi by the evening or night of August 18, marking the beginning of the rainfall.
