World’s most popular search engine “Google”, is celebrating the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan with a special doodle showcasing the national flag on its homepage.
By clicking on the doodle, users can access search results that explore the importance of Independence Day, including patriotic songs, historical accounts of Pakistan’s creation, related videos and news updates.
Google regularly updates its doodle to celebrate notable global events and occasions.
In a statement, Google emphasised the significance of the day, saying: “On this day in 1947, Pakistan gained independence and became a sovereign nation”.
This public holiday also commemorates the contributions and legacies of Pakistan’s founders“.
The Independence Day doodle has become an annual tradition for the tech giant.
In previous years, designs have showcased famous landmarks like Karachi’s Frere Hall and celebrated cultural symbols like mangoes.
This year’s design takes a more subtle yet powerful approach, centring the flag as a strong symbol of national pride.
Additionally, users may notice an alternative design on the search result page, where the double “O”s in the word Google are replaced with Pakistan’s flag, further reflecting its identity.
