President, PM reaffirm commitment to national unity and sovereignty

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have emphasised the spirit of courage, unity, and sacrifice that led to the country’s creation on the occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.

In their separate messages, the two leaders extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation.

In their separate messages, the leaders said, “This day reminds us of the bravery, unity, and sacrifices through which we achieved the blessing of freedom. Today, we pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and all the workers of the Pakistan Movement.”

They noted that this year’s Independence Day is being celebrated with great pride and renewed hope.

“Recently, our nation demonstrated strength and unity in response to external aggression. Our victory in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan um Marsoos marks a golden chapter in our history.”

The leaders highlighted the exceptional professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and the unity of the people during these operations.

“In the face of India’s unprovoked aggression, we defended our homeland with patience, wisdom, and full strength. Pakistan desires peace, but it is fully capable of protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

They also expressed unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“Pakistan will continue to extend steadfast diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until they achieve their right to self-determination,” the messages added.
