An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has ordered the confiscation of properties belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, and Ejaz Chaudhry after convicting them in two cases related to the May 9 arson and rioting.
On Monday, ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul announced verdicts in the Shadman Town police station arson case and the arson incident outside Rahat Bakery after holding a trial in Kot Lakhpat jail.
The court, in its verdict in both cases, sentenced the four PTI leaders to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs600,000 each.
Warrants have also been issued to send Dr Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Mahmood Rashid and Ijaz Chaudhry to jail.
The court clarified that their properties will be confiscated and taken into government custody.
Cases against the PTI leaders were registered in Shadman and Sarwar Road police stations.
The court, however, acquitted senior PTI leader and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in both cases.
In addition, the court sentenced PTI Punjab chief organiser Aliya Hamza and Sanam Javed to 5 years in prison each in the Shadman Town police station torching case.
