The Meteorological Department has issued an alert forecasting heavy rains across the country from August 4 to 7.

According to the forecast, rain coupled with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the upper areas.

Intermittent heavy rains are also likely in various areas of Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are likely to occur in many areas of Balochistan and Sindh on August 6, which could cause water accumulation in low-lying areas, overflowing of rivers and canals, and localised flooding.

The Meteorological Department has directed the district administration and emergency services to take precautionary measures, while citizens have also been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures.

The department stated that the weather situation is being continuously monitored and timely updates will be provided to the public.
