Indian airline IndiGo strongly condemned an in-flight altercation that broke out on the recent flights. They have called the incident as completely unacceptable.
The airline confirmed of it being aware of the situation and called it as “completely unacceptable”. They further emphasised that it does not tolerate any untruly behaviour.
According to IndiGo, the passenger involved in the physical altercation was deemed “unruly” and was handed over to security authorities upon landing.
The airline also notified relevant regulatory agencies and confirmed that its cabin crew acted in accordance with standard operating procedures during the incident.
A video of the altercation has gone viral on social media, showing a man slapping another passenger, who according to the passengers, was reportedly experiencing a panic attack at the time.
The footage has triggered widespread outrage, with many calling on the airline industry to enhance passenger safety and prevent such confrontations.
In its official statement, IndiGo reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment on board, stressing that any actions compromising the dignity or safety of passengers and crew would not be tolerated.
Several public figures, including politicians and journalists, have called for the accused passenger to be placed on a no-fly list.
