Netflix’s series ‘Wednesday’ returns with season 2

The famous Netflix series “Wednesday” makes its return after three years, after it made its debut in November 2022.

The season two premiered at a special event in London’s Westminster. The cast and creators walked the purple carpet outside the Central Hall and the Queen Elizabeth II Centre to celebrate the occasion.

“Wednesday” season two will be released in two installments, with Part One launching on August 6 and Part Two following on September 3.

In this season, Jenna Ortega revived her role as Wednesday Addams, who returned from Nevermore Academy as a reluctant hero.

As she gets used to her newfound fame, Wednesday wears her detective hat once again to tackle new supernatural misteries. She also faces glitches in her psych abilities.

Also, she faces family-related challenges as her younger brother Pugsley, played by Isaac Ordonez, begins his studies at Nevermore, and their parents frequently visit the campus.

Ortega commented that in this season, Wednesday has somewhat knocked off her feet, experiencing considerable amount of pressure.

Creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar highlighted that “Wednesday” is back “bigger and better”. They also highlighted that viewers will learn more about the characters introduced in Season One, each with their own storylines.

The sophomore season also welcomes new characters, including Steve Buscemi as Nevermore’s principal Barry Dort and Joanna Lumley as the Addams family matriarch, Grandmama Hester Frump. Pop star Lady Gaga will make a guest appearance as a teacher in Part Two.

The main theme of this season lies on mother-daughter dynamics. Millar further explained that It’s about mothers and daughters, it’s three generations of Addams women together.

It’s also about learning to not be in control of everything for Wednesday and it will always highlight female friendship and sisterhood.

Ortega, 22, also serves as an executive producer for the new season, which she described as granting her “freedom.”

Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday’s roommate Enid Sinclair, praised Ortega as a supportive figure within the cast. She further stated that Ortega is a kind of our cast spokesperson. She just looks out for us.

Filmmaker Tim Burton returned as one of the directors and executive producers for the series.
