Open AI CEO warns against using AI for personal therapies

Open AI CEO Sam Altman issued warning regarding the use of Chat GPT for emotional support and counseling. It also emphasises that the conversation with AI chatbot lacks legal protection.

In a recent podcast, on This Past Weekend with Theo Von, Altman highlighted that Chat GPT doesn’t replace professional help from lawyers, doctors and therapists.

He also noted that many people especially youngsters seek help regarding personal and mental health issues on Chat GPT, unaware of the privacy risk it carries.

“People talk about the most personal stuff in their lives to ChatGPT,” Altman remarked, stressing that the company has yet to establish privacy safeguards for such interactions.

As AI assistance continues in daily lives it is necessary to seek professional help, as Chat GPT therapies aren’t guaranteed.
