Dar and Rubio discuss trade tariffs, regional cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral, regional, and global issues, including tariffs.

Ishaq Dar, who is currently visiting the United States to attend a UN conference on Palestine, also met foreign dignitaries on the sidelines of the UN event.

In this connection, Dar met Towhid Hossain, adviser on foreign affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. This was the fourth meeting between the two leaders since October 2024.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting political, economic, and cultural cooperation.

Both leaders emphasised the importance of enhancing ties and promoting people-to-people exchanges and agreed to hold high-level visits in the near future.

The two leaders expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

They reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate aspirations, and expressed hope for meaningful and constructive outcomes from the conference.
