Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Saturday said that the federal government cannot impose its one-sided decisions on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that any new operation in the province is unacceptable.
In a statement, the KP chief minister issued a clear message: border security is the responsibility of the federal government.
Gandapur said that law and order and development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are his government’s top priorities.
“We will go to any extent to establish law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The federal government cannot impose its unilateral decisions on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he added.
The chief minister said that no decision regarding Afghanistan could be made without consulting the KP government.
The provincial government is forming its own jirga to restore peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said and accused the federal government of usurping the resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming that funds were not being provided to the merged districts.
Gandapur said that any new operation in the province was unacceptable, reiterating his message to the federal government: border security is a federal responsibility.
“If the federal government is failing to do its job, the provincial police will take over security,” he stated.
