Cloud burst in Kaghan Valley triggers landsliding

A sudden cloudburst has resulted in a massive landslide on the road leading to Lake Saif-ul-Muluk in the Kaghan Valley, Khyber Pakhtun Khwa. As a result, more than 500 tourists while more than 117 jeeps were also trapped on the road blocked by debris.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in response to the emergency issued instructions for a rescue operation. The Kaghan Development Authority took action on an emergency basis and evacuated all the tourists and shifted them to safe places.

Secretary Tourism Abdul Samad said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of tourists. He has appealed to tourists to immediately contact helpline 1422 in case of any emergency during their travel.

Weather situation in Peshawar and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Regarding the weather, the Meteorological Department forecasts generally hot and humid conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 24 hours, with possible thundershowers in the upper districts.

Rain is expected in Dir, Swat, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and South Waziristan. Recent rainfall was recorded in Nowshera, Abbottabad, and Swat, with Cherat receiving 9 mm, Kakul 13 mm, and Kalam 3 mm.

The minimum temperature in Peshawar was 26 and the maximum was 36 degrees Celsius, while in the cooler areas of the province, the minimum temperature in Malam Jabba was 14 and 15 degrees Celsius in Kalam.

The Met Office has directed citizens and tourists to be aware of weather changes and take precautionary measures.
