Dr Yasmin Rashid shifted to hospital after experiencing difficulty in breathing

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) incarcerated leader and former health minister of Punjab Dr Yasmin Rashid, has shifted from Kot Lakhpat Jail to Services Hospital on Tuesday after her health deteriorated, her lawyer confirmed.

According to her counsel, Rana Muddasir Advocate, Dr Rashid was experiencing severe difficulty in breathing, prompting prison authorities to arrange her immediate transfer to the hospital. She also reportedly complained of stomach and abdominal pain.

“Her condition worsened in the evening, and the jail staff informed us. She was then taken to Services Hospital, where she is undergoing multiple tests,” the lawyer stated. Oxygen support was provided due to her breathing issues, he added.

Earlier in the day, Dr Yasmin Rashid appeared briefly for a court attendance related to the May 9 arson cases, including the Askari Tower incident. “She was only present for 10 minutes before being taken back to jail,” her lawyer said.

This is the second time the former Punjab health minister has been hospitalised due to health concerns since being imprisoned over a year ago in connection with multiple cases stemming from the May 9 protests.
