Met Office forecasts severe rainfall, storm across Pakistan

The Met Office has issued warning that heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected to continue in most parts of the country from today until July 17.

Due to severe weather, citizens have been advised to exercise caution, and relevant authorities have been directed to take precautionary measures in advance.

In Karachi, rain with thunderstorms is expected until July 16. It has raised concerns about water accumulation in low-lying areas.

In Islamabad and Rawalpindi may experience thunderstorms and rain accompanied by strong winds, while rain is also forecasted in Murree, Attock, Chakwal, and Gujranwala.Urban flooding risks are emerging in low-lying areas of Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad, where inadequate drainage systems may disrupt daily activities.

Additionally, the Pothohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience strong winds and heavy rain in the evening, raising concerns about potential damage to fragile infrastructure and mud houses.

In the regions of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan there is a risk of severe land sliding. Travel advisory has been issued for individuals in those areas.

Rain is expected in the districts of Barkhan, Zhob, Musa Khel, and Sibi in Balochistan, while several areas in the northern cities of Sindh, including Sukkur, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Larkana, are also likely to experience rainfall.

The Met office has warned that strong winds could damage weak structures, trees, and poles, and there may be disruptions to electricity supply in some areas.

District administrations, rescue services, and civil defense departments are now on high alert to respond to any emergency situations.

Citizens are advised to refrain from unnecessary travel and to remain informed about the latest weather updates.
